                                                    Alan Muia is co-founder and executive director of New Earth Recovery, a nonprofit operating six recovery residences and a recovery cafe in northwest Washington State.  
Before starting New Earth Recovery with his wife Amy, Alan worked for 18 years in higher education, in residence life at Seattle Pacific University and as Dean of Student Services at Skagit Valley College. He is a trained Genesis Counselor and has been a mediator with the regional dispute resolution center. He holds a master's degree in Educational Psychology and has participated in numerous local, state, and national leadership development programs. He co-founded and currently chairs the board of the Washington Alliance for Quality Recovery Residences (WAQRR). Locally, he is heavily invested in leadership development and mentorship, conflict resolution, and advocacy for people in recovery.
