Description
The ability to resolve conflicts is one of the most important life skills that people can learn in a recovery home. Relationship difficulty can lead to isolation, anxiety, destructive behavior, and return to use. In this intensive seminar, residence staff and peer leaders will learn the basics of mediating interpersonal conflicts between residents. When a conflict is effectively mediated, participants make agreements that can decrease tension, begin the process of rebuilding trust, and lead to healthy relationships. This session will introduce participants step-by-step through the mediation model considered a best practice by dispute resolution organizations worldwide. If time permits, the presenter will also demonstrate the model in a role play. Materials will be provided that will help participants retain and use the model in their contexts.
