Now Accepting Proposals

We’re looking for innovative and knowledgeable

speakers for this year’s summit . . .

The National Alliance for Recovery Residences needs you to make a stellar program for our 2022 summit! Our theme is Better Together – an exploration of what unity and inclusion can bring to quality recovery housing. NARR is looking for plenary and breakout sessions that explore this theme in recovery housing from Recovery Residence Operations, Advocacy & Affiliate Leadership, and Government Agency perspectives. Session structures may include panels, single or small group presentations, workshops, listening sessions, roundtable discussions, and other experiential sessions.

There is no blanket requirement for speakers' experience. NARR will prioritize a balance of speakers with lived experience– such as operators of a certified recovery residence, or formerly incarcerated people in recovery– and academic or professional credentials.

In keeping with our theme, NARR is committed to spotlighting speakers from a variety of backgrounds, identities, and experiences.

Particular emphasis will be given to topics concerning the recovery housing, leadership, and advocacy needs of: Black, Indigenous, People of Color; survivors of abuse or human trafficking; people with co-occurring disorders; formerly incarcerated individuals, and other survivors of the criminal justice system; minority-owned recovery housing; rural recovery housing and supports; the LGBTQ+ community; or other underserved populations in recovery. We prefer that at least one speaker for the proposed session have lived experience regarding the subject.

We will consider all sessions regardless of whether or not they align with our desired topics. For examples of past sessions, check out excerpts from last year's agenda here.

** YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN INTO GOOGLE to submit this form; if you do not have a Gmail/Google account, you must create one. Your email is not automatically recorded, so please give us your best contact email where indicated. NO PROPOSALS SENT VIA EMAIL WILL BE CONSIDERED. **

QUICK REFERENCE: What You'll Need

  • Bio & Photo(s): A biography of each speaker involved in the session and a good quality headshot.
  • Session description (400 words or less).
  • Session objectives: What will attendees learn or gain from this session?
  • Session outline: A breakdown of how you are using the time of the session for each topic area and questions (i.e., Intro | 10 minutes; Quality Improvement | 20 minutes, etc.)
  • Session materials: Any presentation slides, handouts, or other attachments that will be used or distributed during the session.
  • A number of other details such as contact information, credentials, and how we can use your materials.

All submissions are due Friday, June 3rd by 5:00pm Eastern.

Proposals must be received before deadline to be considered for either a breakout or plenary session. There is an option within the application to note interest in being paired with other speakers to discuss different perspectives on a similar topic or a blended presentation. We understand that details may change, and will work with accepted speakers to update the aspects of their session as needed.

Some financial aid may be available for qualified applicants. Primary considerations will be for members of marginalized communities with lived experience in recovery. Aid will only be awarded to those who could not attend the summit otherwise. To apply for financial assistance, first submit a proposal, then fill out the application here.
