In this session, "Why It Matters: Supporting Trans and Gender-Diverse Recovery with Data and Best Practices in Rural Communities," we will explore the unique challenges that trans and gender-diverse individuals face in recovery, focusing on rural communities. We will present data on the disparities in substance use, suicidality, housing instability, and access to care within this population. We will share insights into how we bridge this gap and change the narrative for this community by promoting positive outcomes. Attendees will collaborate to develop an action plan that can be implemented in their organizations to better serve trans and gender-diverse individuals in recovery. This session is designed for addiction counselors, owner-operators, peer recovery workers, advocates, and leaders committed to fostering inclusive recovery environments.

Objectives
Understand the Challenges: Participants will gain a clear understanding of the unique barriers trans and gender-diverse individuals face in recovery, including substance use, mental health struggles, housing instability, and access to care, especially in rural communities.
Apply Data-Informed Solutions: Attendees will receive concrete data and examples of best practices that demonstrate the positive impact of inclusive recovery services and strategies tailored for gender-diverse individuals.
Implement Actionable Strategies: Participants will develop a collective action plan with specific steps to bring back to their organizations, aimed at implementing inclusive practices and services for trans and gender-diverse individuals in recovery.
