Description

This presentation will present a survey of hot topics and common pitfalls that SUD treatment centers and recovery residences encounter in the context of employment. The presentation will trace the "lifespan" of an employment relationship, from the employee interview and hiring process, through the nature of the working relationship, to employer obligations and employee discipline, and winding up with termination and post-termination issues.

Objectives
Upon completion of the presentation, attendees will be better able to "spot the issues" that can frequently lead to legal liability. Attendees will also be able to refine and update many aspects of their own employee handbooks and policies & procedures. Finally, attendees will learn tangible strategies they can use from day-one to reduce the risk of employment lawsuits and government investigations.
