Description

Dr. Scarbrough will discuss how trauma and adverse childhood experiences have a significant impact on individuals who battle substance use disorder and often find themselves in the penal system. She will discuss best practices in working with those who have experienced trauma, while ensuring understanding of how the trauma has affected the brain and thus consequent actions. Attendees will gain a wealth of knowledge in the role trauma has played in the lives those they serve, learn how to better work with this population and address their needs, and operate under a trauma informed lens.
