Description
Participants in this experiential discussion will gain introductory knowledge of the ASAM Criteria, including its use for level of care placement, and examine the contrast between medical/clinical services and social model recovery supports within a continuum of care. The session will review types of recovery residences and how they align with individual treatment and recovery needs, while also addressing integration of residences and recovery support services into the ASAM framework as a strategy to strengthen advocacy and funding efforts.
Objectives
1. Have introductory knowledge of the ASAM Criteria and how it is used for level of care

2. Contrast medical/clinical services to social model recovery support services and understand
how both are optimally utilized in a continuum of care.
3. Identify the different types of recovery residences and how they are implemented to align with
individual treatment and recovery needs.
