Description

A community-university collaborative research project was developed to investigate the business operations and financial management challenges and opportunities of recovery home providers operating in Texas. This original research aimed to generate empirical research to inform approaches to bolstering the sustainability of recovery housing organizations. The findings from this research project led to the development of several recovery housing business sustainability tools: a business model canvas, an innovative sustainability toolkit that supports best practices such as the NARR standards, and an upcoming recovery housing cohort program with specialized technical assistance and training to increase the business sustainability of recovery homes throughout the nation.

Objectives
Participants will be able to:1) Identify common financial challenges faced by recovery housing operators and explore promising strategies to mitigate these challenges; 2) Discuss at least two resources or tools that can support the translation of research on business sustainability into practical application within their recovery housing settings; 3) Describe upcoming recovery housing sustainability program components and opportunities.
