Danielle Bonanno (she/they) is the Executive Director of Inclusive Recovery Athens. A dedicated advocate for marginalized and stigmatized populations, Danielle's work spans individuals with substance use disorders, LGBTQIA2S+ communities, homeless and low-income populations, and those navigating complex traumas. Her professional mission is centered on bridging the gap between the queer and recovery communities by educating addiction professionals on providing trauma-informed and culturally affirming care to LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.

In addition to her leadership at Inclusive Recovery Athens, Danielle serves as President of the OUT Georgia Business Alliance and sits on the boards of Georgia Equality and the Equality Foundation of Georgia. During her tenure as President of Athens Pride and Queer Collective from 2021 to 2024, she launched the impactful Trans Surgery Scholarship Program, offering full scholarships for gender-affirming surgeries since 2022. Danielle’s contributions to the LGBTQ+ community were further recognized in 2023 when she was honored as a Grand Marshal for the Atlanta Pride Parade.

Her work at Inclusive Recovery Athens is focused on building truly inclusive recovery spaces, championing equity within recovery services, and leading grassroots movements that amplify lived experiences and advance social justice.
