Description

This session will concentrate on amplifying voices that have often been marginalized in state-level activities and initiatives and will present innovative strategies aimed at reinforcing culturally specific solutions to address challenges at the community level, with a particular focus on state-level activity. The presentation will emphasize the importance of state agencies and policymakers in creating inclusive platforms and fostering an environment where culturally diverse voices are not only valued but are integral to shaping responsive and effective community strategies. Heather brings strategic approaches to community engagement in geographic diversity, sustainability of Recovery Community Organizations, and advocacy for support and funding for racially and ethnically diverse communities and LGBTQIA2S peers.

Objectives
Upon completing this session attendees will learn; 1. How a grassroots organization can partner with state entities for program development and oversight, 2. The importance of community leader engagement, development, and the participatory process, 3. How to advocate for yourself, community and organization.
