Description

This session will present an update on recent legal cases and regulatory guidelines relevant to Recovery Residences and Sober-Living Homes. The presentation will also include best practices for seeking variances and accommodations from planning boards and how to determine whether its time to bring in legal counsel.

Objectives
1. Be able to understand the key fair housing laws and regulations that protect the rights of individuals in recovery; 2) Understand the best practices from a Fair Housing rights perspective for submitting an application to a planning board for a recovery residence; 3. Be able to identify the legal issues in responses from a planning board or from neighbors
